9/3/19- Bayside Blues Festival 2019

What a Day!! The sky was so blue, the venue was fabulous and the music lovers showed up in droves! There were 8 amazing acts who took to the stage between 1-9pm, Plus roving band The Button collective-who played for 15 minutes in between every set as the bands changed over.

The Chix were charged with kicking things off for the day. We started our set  to a small but very appreciative audience and watched from the stage as the venue filled up! Everyone sought out the shade of the big gum trees as they set up their seating, so at that point in the day our audience was situated off to each side of the stage. But by all reports after our set,  the mix was still good over to each side.

The Chix had a hoot playing a mixed set of tried and tested tunes along side some newly discovered current band favorites. And oh man,The aromas of a great selection of food stalls filled the air and made our bellies rumble and demand brekkie as we finished our set,,,,,,mmmm woodfired pizza....(breakfast of champions)!

The Chix set  was followed by our good mates DRB- The Dale Robbins Band.......representin' from Toowoomba, who turned out some very cool renditions of some blues tunes i haven't heard in a while, and an amazing mash up of Pink Floyds money with BB Kings Thrill is gone!! If you've never seen DRB ya gotta check em out if ya get the chance, Dale is a monster Guitarist.....you won't be disappointed!

Next up was our old mate Doug Laverys Band- "Brewin the Blues"- Gotta send a big cheers to Doug and Hayley who, Knowing my love of Tequilla, treated me to a shot of Cabo Wabo (a tequilla i have only read about and never tasted prior to this day)  as i came off stage.x

Sadly,we couldn't stay much longer into the day, due to prior commitements and had to journey back to the coast before getting the chance to see BB Factory, Dezzie D and the Stingrayz, The Kennedy Queens, The fabulous Minnie Marks, & the always awesome Hipshooters. I followed the live feeds on several friends facebook feeds as the day progressed and could clearly see what an awesome event the entire day proved to be. What a great line up and a great day.......

Big Thanks to the Capalaba Rotary for putting on this amazing event and allowing entry  for only a gold coin donation, making this truly an inclusive community event.  If you missed it, be sure to look out for this one on next years entertainment calendar.
